QA specialists in medical coding

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The liaison between the medical staff and the coding department is critical link in the healthcare chain. Our CDI Quality Analyst is responsible for the internal audit of the CDI process and compliance.  This role also gives you the chance to identify areas of improvement and develop plans for training and education.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Serve as Coding department liaison to regional RMD CDI program.
  • Prepare all retrospective queries and follow up with physicians through completion.
  • Enter query information in 3M 360 database
  • Conduct follow-up reviews of clinical documentation to ensure issues discussed and clarified with clinical staff have been recorded in patient's chart.
  • Ensure all query and DRG difference follow up is performed timely and DNB goals are maintained
  • Compile query metrics and report to coding leadership.
  • Maintain working relationship with physicians and other clinical staff.
  • Maintain knowledge of Franciscan Alliance coding software tools.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of software system workflow for standardization and maximum efficiency.
  • Assist with identification and implementation of process improvements according to industry best practice standards to make the best use of resources, decrease costs and improve coding services across the specialized service lines.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of clinical disease management and stay current with coding guidelines and regulatory requirements.
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED
  • Prior Nursing/Patient Care experience.  
  • Knowledge of types of health information and the rules and regulations surrounding their use.
  • Advanced understanding of ICD10PCS coding and coding guidelines.
  • Advanced understanding of coding grouping methodologies.
  • Knowledge of billing and collection systems.
  • Understanding of payor relationships, requirements and compliant billing practices.
  • Understanding of common medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
  • Pharmaceutical terminology, generic and trade names, and ICD coding.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Critically evaluate and analyze information in written materials.
  • Accept personal accountability for deliverables and actions.
  • Solve problems by analyzing information and using logic to address issues and problems.
  • Conduct research and present findings.
  • Interpret test results and formulate reports.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.


 

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
 

 

5-10 Years Experience in Nursing/Patient Care and Inpatient acute coding and related extensive clinical knowledge at a facility with a CDI program

License(s): Registered Nurse

Certification(s): Registered Health Information Administration; Registered Health Information Tech; Registered Nurse, CDI certification preferred
