Benefits Overview
The medical plan utilizes the Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield BlueCard PPO network, a nationwide network of providers. An added benefit to employees enrolled in our medical plan is savings on Franciscan Health services, including our hospitals, imaging, pharmacies, express care and services of Franciscan physicians. Prescription coverage is included in the medical plan.
Dental insurance is offered through Delta Dental and vision insurance through EyeMed Vision Care.
Franciscan offers company-paid short- and long-term disability coverage to full-time employees. Employee-paid short- and long-term disability insurance is available for part-time employees.
The value of the policy is equal to the individuals’ annual earnings up to a maximum of $750,000. Supplemental life insurance is available at a guaranteed issue of up to $350,000 (or six times annual salary, whichever is less) with no health questions asked. Individuals can elect more coverage, subject to terms, and dependent coverage is also available.
Employees are eligible to participate in Franciscan’s Employer Contribution Plan after reaching age 21 and completion of one year of service with a minimum of 1,000 hours during the plan year. Employees are vested in the plan after three years of eligible service.
Employees can enjoy the tax-savings benefits of a 403(b) Plan and may participate immediately upon hire. Those contributing the maximum to the 403(b) Plan are eligible to participate in Franciscan’s 457(b) Non-Qualified Tax Deferred Compensation Plan.
Franciscan provides many resources to help with our employees’ financial well-being, planning and retirement goals. In addition, free financial advisors are available to all employees.
Franciscan provides a Paid Maternity Leave benefit to full-time employees that’s 100% employer-paid.
- Full-time employees (birthing mothers) will receive their regular base pay for up to six weeks of approved maternity leave.
- Employees will not need to use Paid Time Off hours.
- The benefit runs concurrently with any Short-Term Disability (STD) benefit and leave of absence.
- Employees not eligible for Paid Maternity Leave, or whose medical leave may extend beyond six weeks, can use STD, if eligible, for pay on approved leave of absence.
Regular full-time and part-time employees are eligible for paid time-off benefits. Benefits are based on length of service.
Franciscan Health's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides employees and their families with a free, confidential resource for addressing personal or family problems. Professionally trained counselors help with family tensions, financial pressures, mental or emotional issues, substance abuse, work concerns and more. Each person receives six free sessions per year.
The Franciscan Health Foundation not only provides numerous programs to support our patients and communities, but our employees as well. The Franciscan Health Employee Emergency Fund helps in times of unexpected need with interest-free loans, repaid through payroll deduction.

Educational Benefits
Franciscan offers an Educational Assistance Program to reimburse expenses incurred by eligible employees who are continuing their education for job-related courses.
This program offers eligible employees tuition reimbursement for RNs to complete a BSN and LPNs to complete an Associate RN degree.
Franciscan provides eligible employees with tuition reimbursement for approved certification programs, including accredited Medical Assistant Programs and EMT/Paramedic Certification Programs.
Franciscan employees can use payroll deduction to conveniently save for a college education through a 529 savings plan and may be eligible for an Indiana state income tax credit.
