The Clinical Health Screener is the first point of contact for all employees and visitors who are entering any facility and is responsible for the healthcare screening of these individuals including a temperature check and verbal assessment.  The entrance screener will be responsible for monitoring the entrances of the facility and assuring the visitors and staff entering the building meet the guidelines per policy.

  • Welcome and screen coworkers, visitors and staff using a health and travel history declaration form/ questionnaire.
  • Ensure individuals maintain appropriate social distancing of 6 feet as recommended by the CDC during the health screening process. 
  • Take temperature and explain what temperature ranges mean.
  • Monitor the flow of people entering the building to ensure appropriated distancing between individuals in accordance with the social distancing guidelines posted leading up to and/or posted at the building entry.
  • Explain how the screening questions being asked help to identify the symptoms of COVID and be able to understand when an employee states that they have a medical condition that might be causing symptoms.
  • Explain why it is necessary to wear a mask- be able to discuss droplet vs. airborne transfer.
  • Be comfortable explaining the clinical reasons for necessity to someone who is refusing to: have a temperature taken, wear a mask and/or, answer the screening questions.
  • Document and report suspect COVID cases to company representatives.
  • Exclude COVID suspect or ill coworkers from work and be able to explain, clinically why they need to excluded from work.
  • Follow CDC guidelines to determine if an individual is clear to enter the facility.
  • Provide additional information to coworkers, patients or visitors once responses have been documented.
  • Prior clinical experience or education.
  • Display skills to work with others from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication skills to communicate with staff, patients, doctors, and families.
  • Quickly and effectively adjust to new situations.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of patient handling techniques.
  • Understanding of principles of quality patient care.
  • Knowledge of terminology used in diagnosis and classification of illnesses, injuries, and disabilities.
