WHAT WE NEED

Patient-first respiratory therapists

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education, monitoring, evaluation and treatment are all important aspects of our Respiratory Therapy program. The Certified Respiratory Therapist oversees all of them for patients of all ages. It’s a hands-on, patient-care position in an environment that values compassionate, joyful service.

Are you able to accurately follow a care plan? Do you provide exceptional patient care? Are you good at explaining procedures? We have a special place waiting for you.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Attend code blue and rapid response team activation to perform or assist with airway management.
  • Set up and operate mechanical ventilators using invasive or non-invasive procedures on patients ranging from neonatal to adult; administer high frequency jet ventilation (HFJV), high-frequency oscillatory ventilation (HFOV), and conventional methods to deliver nitric oxide to patients.
  • Perform ventilation therapies, ensuring proper selection of the delivery device, to ensure adequate patient oxygenation.
  • Administer inhaled medications to patients, such as SABA, LABA, LAMA, ICS, antibiotics, and other prescribed inhaled medications.
  • Educate patients and their caregivers about their conditions and teach appropriate disease management techniques, such as breathing exercises or the use of medications or respiratory equipment.
  • Conduct special procedures including electrocardiograms (EKGs), arterial blood gas tests (ABG), pulmonary function tests and surfactant delivery; assist physicians during caesarean section births, high-risk deliveries, and patient transport.
  • Maintain cleanliness of patient room and equipment, and prepare and calibrate equipment needed for testing.
  • Perform incentive spirometry on patients to facilitate airway clearance and lung expansion.
  • Perform thorough patient assessments, obtain patient history, and elicit an accurate description of sleep problems in order to diagnose and treat patients with science-based medicine.
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED
  • Prior clinical experience.
  • Active listening.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of Basic Life Support (BLS) emergency care.
  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Standard Precautions knowledge.
  • Maintain composure, even in very difficult situations.
  • Prioritize and delegate tasks.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of procedures and protocols necessary to provide patient safety.
  • Accept personal accountability for deliverables and actions.
  • Develop effective relationships with patients, hospital departments, and other external parties.
