Transportation Services Manager

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Transportation Service Manager oversees all aspects of the operations to ensure the safe, efficient and timely transport of patients while meeting or exceeding all state requirements for certification. WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Work with state agencies regarding ambulance service certification.
  • Interface with Nursing Operations, Case Management, and Unit leaders requesting patient transportation.
  • Work with the ED to arrange for staff to assist in the ED between transport calls.
  • Work with appropriate dispatching entity (i.e. patient logistics/Transfer Center).
  • Work with Finance Department in regard to all aspects of the department budget including revenue (billing), expenses, etc.
  • Ensure appropriate stocking of vehicles, maintenance on vehicles and safety of vehicles.
  • Plan for future business strategies including NICU and critical care transports.
  • Communicate regularly with local ambulance vendors to coordinate back-up transport support.
  • Collaborate with physician medical director for ambulance services on quality assessment and quality improvement operations, applicable relevant quality assessment and utilization review requirements, and timely and required staff education, training and professional development.
  • Track quality indicators including timeliness, statistics regarding runs, and other key processes.
  • Approve and pay department invoices in a timely manner.
  • Complete or review annual performance reviews on staff.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Ensure all state and accreditation paperwork is completed and submitted before due.
  • Negotiate and approve contracts at the department level and oversee the approval through administration.
  • Teach and assist teaching in both the EMT and paramedic programs.
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED
  • Appropriate medical or allied health education, training and experience.
  • Prior experience in a public contact position, preferably as a Patient Representative.
  • Service Excellence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Facilitate and lead meetings.
  • Handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Make decisions and use judgement in ambiguous situations.
  • Strategic thinking.
  • Time management.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
