WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Nurse specialists are a special breed. They are able to provide all the skill-based, compassionate care you’d expect from a nurse while also thinking outside the box. Our clinical nurse specialist interns assist in the diagnosis and treatment of illness and assist in the delivery of evidence-based nursing interventions. They work as part of a team to provide theory and evidence-based care to attain health goals. They take nursing one step further and constantly strive to improve surgical care.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Under the supervision of the CNS Program Coordinator and in collaboration with the unit leadership, assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of innovative individual and/or population-based programs of care to achieve desired quality, cost-effective, nurse-sensitive outcomes.
  • Follow the cases of complex patients who do not progress along structured care methodologies, intervening (within scope of training, competency and licensure) to facilitate optimal patient outcomes.
  • Provide assistance and support in advancing the practice of nursing among other nurses and across organizations to achieve outcomes.
  • Assist in the identification of knowledge and skill development needs of nurses.  
  • Design appropriate methods and instruments to assess knowledge, skills, and practice competencies of nurses and nursing personnel to advance the practice of nursing.
  • Assist in designing nursing career enhancement programs that are ongoing, accessible, innovative, and effective.
  • Provide support and assistance in the development and identification of measures used to identify root causes, implement evidence-based practice improvements, and verify improvements
  • Take part in data collection and monitoring to retrieve meaningful information to identify clinical causes and effects, and financial impact.
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED
  • Highly developed analytical critical thinking and/or organizational skills as well as strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships and use tact, discretion and diplomacy when working with others.
  • Demonstrate ability to stay calm and focused in environment of multiple demands.
  • Demonstrate good judgment in emergency situations.
  • Strong oral & written communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of health care finance.

License(s): Registered Nurse

Certification(s): Advanced Cardiac Life Support; Basic Life Support Program; Pediatric Advanced Life Support

Travel: Never or Rarely
