WHAT WE NEED

Hands-on therapy assistants (COTA's)

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Patients who need occupational therapy fall into a wide range of capabilities. Some progress quickly through therapy plans. Others struggle and need modified plans. All of them need hands-on observation and guidance. The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) is the link between the Registered OT and the patient. The COTA is the one who greets each patient with a smile, listens and observes to determine their progress, and maintains records for the OT to review.

Are you able to follow an occupational therapy plan? Can you motivate patients and help them reach their goals? Do you love the variety that comes from taking care of different patients every day? You need to consider this position. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Collaborate with patient and other healthcare personnel or outside agencies regarding coordination of care.
  • Perform comprehensive occupational therapy treatment and related follow-up services including discharge planning.
  • Train and educate patients and family members or others and document understanding of treatment plan and goals.
  • Document and submit patient reports and charges within the established timeframe.
  • Exercise clinical judgment following an occupational therapy plan of care.
  • Provide occupational therapy according to standards of care defined by the state practice act and other professional and governing agencies.
  • Provide occupational therapy, including selection and use of adaptive equipment.
  • Report patient progress and collaborate with evaluating therapist to implement the therapy plan of care.
  • Supervise Rehab Techs.

  • Handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of injury prevention theories and strategies and laws, regulations, or policies impacting the Healthcare industry.
  • Maintains a positive approach, work cooperatively with others, and demonstrate a constructive response to criticism and work with others as a team.
  • Thorough knowledge of use, care, and operation of equipment used in Occupational Therapy.
  • Knowledge of procedures and protocols necessary to provide patient safety.
