Psychologists have become an indispensable part of everyday health care. They assist patients and families in behavioral health consultations and brief interventions. At Franciscan Health, we value our Psychologists and believe they enhance the outstanding care we provide for our patients.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Identify psychological, emotional, or behavioral issues and diagnose disorders, using information obtained from interviews, tests, records, or reference materials.
  • Counsel individuals and groups regarding problems, such as stress, substance abuse, or family situations, to modify behavior or to improve personal, social, or vocational adjustment.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling or treatments and the accuracy and completeness of diagnoses, modifying plans or diagnoses as necessary.
  • Develop and implement individual treatment plans, specifying type, frequency, intensity, and duration of therapy.
  • Document patient care information and ensure timely and accurate completion of patient care records in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Educate patients on other specialists, institutions, or support services as necessary.
  • Select, administer, score, and interpret psychological tests to obtain information on individuals' intelligence, achievements, interests or personalities.
  • Review and indicate approval by signing off on treatment plans developed by LCDW, LMFT, LMHC, or LCAC.
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED
  • Prior experience in Psychology.
  • Knowledge of Community Resources, programs and services.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of terminology used in diagnosis and classification of illnesses, injuries, and disabilities.
  • Understanding of DSM-5.
  • Show sincere interest in others and their concerns.
  • Act as a liaison/advocate between patient and physician.
  • Administer psychological tests according to protocol.
  • Develop effective relationships with patients, hospital departments, and other external parties.
