Franciscan Physician Network is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to meet the growing demand for colon & rectal surgery services in Indianapolis, Indiana. Interested candidate will travel between Indianapolis and Mooresville. 


Ideal candidate will display exceptional interpersonal skills with focus on clinical excellence and patient satisfaction. Provider will be expected to work collaboratively with physician to coordinate and deliver the highest quality of care. Physician Assistant will split time between clinic and hospital, assist in the operating room, round on inpatients and see outpatients in clinic. 

  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, Daily start time 6:00 a.m.
    • 1-2 Operating Room days per week; days may vary 
    • Clinic days will vary per week, depending on operating room schedule 
  • No call expectation


  • Daily rounding on inpatient census at Indianapolis 
    • Coordination of care with colorectal resident and appropriate staff
    • Daily progress note documentation, order entry via EMR and nursing staff communication if necessary
  • Occasional rounding on inpatient census our Mooresville location. 
  • Initial evaluation of new colorectal surgery consults at Indianapolis campus via the ICU, floor or emergency room. 
  • First and/or Second assist in both major and minor colorectal procedures at either Indianapolis or Mooresville campuses.
  • Common Procedures: 
    • Deep and superficial abdominal wall closure
    • Laparoscopic camera guidance
    • Bedside assistance of robotic surgery
    • Transanal passage of circular stapler
    • Liaison to floor nurses for inpatient care during daytime hours


  • Postoperative visits to include: 
    • Staple removal
    • Drain removal
    • Wound checks
  • Coordination of care for patients that need direct admission from outpatient setting
  • Assessment of acute colorectal issues when staff are unavailable


  • Approximately 4-5 weekends per year, daily rounds at both Mooresville and Indianapolis campuses. These weekends to be determined in advance, when both colorectal residents are unavailable
  • Up-to-date technologies and state-of-the-art surgical equipment
