WHAT YOU WILL DO

Provide daily management and operational direction for the Spiritual Care Department at Franciscan Health. Accountable for:

  • Day to day management of mission-driven Spiritual Care operations.
  • Developing, monitoring, and improving core operational goals and processes around standards of care that contribute to and strengthen patient satisfaction and colleague engagement
  • Recruiting, onboarding, engaging and evaluating chaplains and associated staff
  • Building strong relationships with health system entities to promote the development of Spiritual Care in an interprofessional care team environment
  • Working with Spiritual Care staff to develop relationships with area clergy, specifically with Catholic priests
  • Policy development, compliance, and revision
  • payroll and budget management.
  • Works as a player-coach with chaplains in the direct provision of spiritual care services.
  • Reports to and works collaboratively with the Administrative Director Spiritual Care Services to create strategies and tactics related to decision-making and goal setting for spiritual care operations and service delivery.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

 

 

  • 4 year experience in providing ministry in an acute healthcare environment is preferred.
  • 2 years leadership/manager role in Spiritual Care is preferred
  • A practicing Catholic with experience in Catholic healthcare who understands and is committed to Catholic healthcare is required.

 

Must meet the General Requirements of Franciscan Health and in addition achieve and maintain board certification by the National Association of Catholic Chaplains, the Association of Professional Chaplains, or National Association of Jewish Chaplains within 2 years of hire date.  Board certification requirements include:

  • Ecclesiastical endorsement.
  • Master’s Degree in Divinity, Theology, Religion, or Christian Spirituality from an accredited school.
  • Four units of Clinical Professional Education from an accredited center.
  • Adherence to Code of Ethics
  • Demonstration of proficiency in meeting standards of professional pastoral care in the areas of Theory of Pastoral Care, Identity and Conduct, Pastoral Skills, and Professional Skills.
