WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Doctors order EKG testing for patients relying on knowledgeable, consistent and competent EKG technicians to carry out the actual test. An EKG technician needs to know more than just how to run the machine (though that’s important too) they need to know how to explain the test to patients, how to follow instructions, and what standards need to be met with each test.

Are you good at calibrating equipment and ensuring it runs to standards? Are you detail-oriented and accurate? Do you have good patient communication skills? We have a great opportunity waiting just for you. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Identify and report critical results to providers.
  • Prepare images and data in a preliminary report in designated reporting system such as cardiology PACS or EMR system prior to physician reading the study.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities for the department.
  • Ensure that all patients are calm and relaxed during the process allowing for quality test output.
  • Monitor equipment throughout the test to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
  • Make appropriate accommodation to 12 lead EKG test such as perform right sided EKG for suspected right ventricular infarct.
  • Oversee the use of EKG equipment ensuring safe operation.
  • Administer cardiac stress testing for exercise and pharmacological stress testing.
  • Apply cardiac rhythm monitoring equipment, Holter monitors/event monitors and ambulatory mobile telemery monitors.
  • Explain the function and process of EKG exams to patients prior to the test.
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED
  • Analysis of cardiac rhythms and interpretation.
  • Adapt to high volume and high stress areas. A
  • Exhibit knowledge of anatomy and physiology, as well as familiarity with Healthcare field.
  • Basic math skills, such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of Basic Life Support (BLS) emergency care.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Data entry.
  • Knowledge of common diagnostic procedures.
  • Demonstrates complete knowledge of the function and purpose of EKG equipment.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Show sincere interest in others and their concerns.
  • Learn quickly and through multiple channels.
  • Translate technical knowledge into layman’s terms for the benefit of patients.
  • Scheduling procedures.
  • Strategic thinking.
  • Interpret test results and formulate reports.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Read and interpret cardiac rhythms and arrhythmias.
