HIM Coordinator

Health Information Management

 

Address Flexible Work Location: This position must be seated at a Franciscan campus, preferably Greenwood, IN, however considerations will be made for other Franciscan locations.

Hours  Flexible day time hours 

Calendar  Full-Time; approx. 40 hours/week

Education Associate's required; Bachelor's preferred

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Assist department leadership with the coordination of essential HIM functions and workflows.
  • Assist with process improvement and standardization of HIM workflow.
  • Conduct quality reviews for focused studies related to accreditation requirements.
  • Monitor work queues and manage system issues.
  • Perform HIM essential functions and workflow duties as needed in the department.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on essential HIM functions and workflows.
  • Answer inquiries from departments regarding the HIM system and resolve issues or escalate as appropriate.
  • Participate in the planning and testing of new systems and upgrades.
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED
  • Prior experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of types of health information and the rules and regulations surrounding their use.
  • Understanding of common medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
  • Prioritize and delegate tasks.
  • Accept personal accountability for deliverables and actions.
  • Solve problems by analyzing information and using logic to address issues and problems.
  • Identify trends in medical record documentation workflows and escalate to leadership.
  • Critically evaluate and analyze information.
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer software, hardware, and communication devices to perform tasks.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

 

2 years experience in a health care setting preferred

Certification(s): Registered Health Information Technology (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administration (RHIA) 

Travel: Never or Rarely
