Nutrition gurus with a passion for Diabetic Education

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

People who understand the importance of Diabetic Education and the role nutrition takes in health care and healing are becoming more and more necessary. Patient nutrition assessments and care plans need to be developed by knowledgeable clinical dieticians. Dieticians who can also communicate those plans to the care team and educate the patient and family about them. There’s no doubt that clinical dieticians are a key team member in the health care offered at Franciscan Health – a place where we believe that faith is part of everyone’s healing.

Do you have a sound knowledge of nutritional guidelines and standards of care? Do you enjoy assessing patient needs and developing plans that meet those needs and regulatory guidelines? WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Provide Diabetic Education to indivdual patients and group classroom settings
  • Provide clinical and public health nutritional assessment, education, and services to patients.
  • Provide nutritional care services based upon assessing patient’s needs.
  • Counsel patients on good nutrition by assessing diet history and food habits. 
  • Determine appropriate calorie level for diet. 
  • Evaluate nutrient adequacy and makes recommendations to develop and implement plan of care.
  • Counsel patients on special diets to assure proper preparation and consumption of nourishment.
  • Plan and conduct special need group sessions for weight reduction and control.

WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED

  • CDE Certification with a passion for educating patients
  • Interact with others in a calm, friendly and caring manner
  • Active listening skills and empathy toward others
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Follow well-defined instructions and comply with regulations, standards and procedures
  • Multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Knowledge of diet and nutritional assistance programs to make referrals. 
  • Knowledge of instructional skills and educational techniques to influence and guide nutritional care of patients for health maintenance.


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

 

1-3 Years Experience

License(s): Registered Dietitian (IN)

Certification(s): Basic Life Support Program; Certified Diabetes Educator

Travel: Up to 20%
