WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Planning and implementing key systems as well as the ongoing operations of those systems in a clinical environment requires a special balance of skills. The Systems Specialist must be able to train, coordinate, and manage all implementations and upgrades– all while understanding and working around the challenges present in a clinical position.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Develop, review, and update all protocols relative to the surgical information system (SIS).
  • Serve as the site’s primary contact for information services in matters regarding SIS. Function as a liaison for the sites when questions arise about the system or when problems are encountered.
  • Function as a resource for OR scheduling and charging. Assist MIS and AIS in planning for implementation changes. Communicate system changes to all affected users via appropriate site-defined communication methods.
  • Identify, plan for, and communicate the impacts of business process changes.
  • Conduct or coordinate SIS orientation, policy and procedure training, in class and in-service programs for all perioperative Services personnel across both campuses. Develop training materials, checklists, and competency training.
  • Troubleshoot and initiate corrective solutions to equipment and system problems as they are identified by perioperative services. Develop and document down time and recovery plan and related manual back up processes.
  • Maintain virtual/perpetual inventory changes with MIS, accounting departments and perioperative leadership.
  • Provide documentation to regulating agencies and inspectors as required including; system backup times, downtime procedures, departmental processes, training records, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide reports to perioperative services as requested.
  • Ensure the list of surgical information system users and their security is accurate and up to date through timely and appropriate communication with the site security administrator.
  • Input and reconciles surgical charges per surgery charging policy.
  • Assist with OR scheduling as needed.
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED
  • Carry out leadership and collaborative responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Knowledge of EPIC OR scheduling, charging, reports, downtime, PMM requisitions and virtual supply.
  • Direct SIS activities in an effective manner while meeting all legal and professional requirements imposed by agencies controlling hospital practices.
  • Assess situations and set priorities.
