WHAT WE NEED

Detail-oriented, coding assistant

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Good learners. Strong supporters. Accurate reviewers. Our coding assistants are an important part of the health information management team. Developing and implementing coding strategies is a big part of the job. The other part? Completing and processing denial paperwork, following up on appeals, and so much more. It’s no small task. WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Support department needs for follow up with Payers.
  • Assist coding denial and support staff with preparation for various projects.
  • Complete and process denial paperwork for the Coding Denial Analysts.
  • Contact physician office and acute care clinical departments when needed to obtain medical record or specific documentation for coding Manager or Director.
  • Perform clerical responsibilities; coordinate and place supply orders, sort and deliver faxes/mail to appropriate person(s), take meeting minutes and maintain files.
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED
  • Prior Health Information Management experience.
  • Previous experence assisting a coding department.
  • Understanding of EPIC coding and claim denials workflow and EPIC build methodologies.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Effectively communicate verballe and in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

 

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Health Information Management. Previous experience assisting a coding department preferred. Understanding of EPIC coding and claim denials workflow and EPIC build methodologies preferred.  

Travel: Never or Rarely
